Inspiration on a Monday Morning

I like to say that the Universe brings you exactly what you need, and no sooner.

The last few weeks have been frenetic as an entrepreneur, feeling that there's too much to do and not enough time to do it all.  I'm also feeling inadequate that I may not be able to send my son to the college of his choice because the money just isn't there.  This is the start-up marathon that I signed up for.

And sometimes, you just need a bit of inspiration to keep going. I found that in my inbox this morning, an interview with Alicia Morga by w3w3, an internet talk radio site.

In the following video, Morga talks about her life. It astounded me.

She's got a blue chip work history–investment banker, lawyer, venture capitalist, successful entrepreneur, columnist for Fast Company.  But that's not what astounded me.  It's what she had to work with, starting off in life.

Her story shows what's really possible, with very little resources other than persistence, intelligence, and hard work–our own human capital.  Most people assume that we need more in the world to make our way.  Alicia Morga's life shows otherwise.

I'm especially drawn to her story because she's traveled the left brain to right brain journey. In the interview, when asked about traits important for entrepreneurship, she cited two things:

  • Noticing what's happening in your body
  • Knowing who you are

These are both way more touchy-feely than most successful entrepreneurs will admit to. I love it.

Check out Alicia Morga's site to see more of her writing, her journey, and who she is.
