I opened up my inbox one morning to find a email from "carol" with a subject line of "the another Carol Ross." I had a feeling it was one of the Carol Ross’s I have found by googling myself last fall and blogged about in a posting. Sure enough, it was. This Carol Ross was the sculptor in Manhattan and somehow she had found my blog. I’m fascinated how the blogosphere works, how a personal coach in Colorado could connect with an artist in New York with nothing in common other than a name, all through a posting.
This Carol Ross pointed me to a site showing more of her work, which includes not only sculpture but also paintings and drawings as well as her bio. This Carol Ross took umbrage at the lighter side of my posting and assured me that her work was serious work, well-regarded, and a lifelong calling. Of that I have no doubt. And if you can’t poke a bit of fun at yourself, well, where would we all be then? No doubt, I’ve been reading too much David Sedaris.
And I must give credit to this Carol Ross for pointing out that having a common name is not only a nuisance in cyberspace but also at places like the doctor’s office. In NY, where there’s literally more people in 12 square miles than all of Colorado, it’s more of a problem.
And now back to our regularly scheduled program….
