Rather than re-cap a WSJ article, I’ll point you to a blogger who has done that quite nicely. The story is about 4 sisters who have achieved positions in business that most people, men or women, never experience–CEO, Senior VP, President of major companies.
The article points to the influence of nurture, how these four daughters were raised by their parents to be leaders. To some extent, our families socialize within us the level of greatness that we can accept in our adult lives. I say accept (as opposed to achieve) because the first step in any goal is to believe that you can reach it.
As the mother of two sons, ages 11 and 14, this gives me pause. What am I doing to encourage greatness in my children? Where am I limiting their vision of possibility?
