Business is Where It’s At

My latest interview for the Leading With a Whole New Mind podcast is with Kenny Moore.

Kenny is the co-author of the best-selling business book, The CEO and the Monk, and corporate ombudsman reporting directly to the chairman of National Grid USA, the second largest utility in North America.

Kenny has some great insights into the workings of business and how having a whole new mind can help. My "aha" in our conversation came when he talked about why his work on awakening joy and meaning is focused on the workplace. His simple answer?

"Because business is where it’s at."

If you want to make an impact, make it in the business world. That’s where the power is. That’s where the money is. That’s where it counts.

Some people may disagree.

My approach is this: Making money and doing good in the world are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they reinforce each other.

BTW-A great group that aligns with this philosophy is Net Impact. I spoke at their annual conference a few years ago, filled with business school students and business people. They call themselves a "global network of leaders who are changing the world through business."
