Growing Older

A friend, George, read my featured article for this month and had this response:

My life is changing as important, and loved, people in my life are dying off.   I’ve kept a list, not too carefully, from 1995 (when I was 73), and the list of important people in my life who have died now comes to 82.  I’ve been focusing on making new friends, which turns out to be easier than I thought, thank God.
Growing older ain’t for sissies, but it is a whole new adventure.
Think of 82 people in your life that you deem important. Now think of them gone from this world. George is right that growing older ain’t for sissies.

Thanks, George, for giving me a new perspective on growing older.  I hope that when I’m in my eighties I will have the adaptability to make new friends and the fortitude to live a full life, even as loved ones leave this world.
