Live Action Coaching

This page provides audio recordings of coaching demonstrations that I’ve done over the years.  You’ll hear a variety of situations, both personal and work-related, with which my volunteer clients struggled.

As a coach, there’s always more than one way to work with a client.  When I initially recorded these demos, it was fascinating for me to listen the choices I made while coaching and what threads in the conversation I pursued.

I hope these coaching demonstrations provide several things to you, the listener:

  • An understanding of what coaching is and is not. It’s much easier to give people an experience of coaching as opposed to describing it.
  • Insight into the kinds of situations that coaching can help with. Not every situation is appropriate for coaching.
  • My own style of coaching, in case you are interested in becoming a client. If you are wondering if there’s a fit between what I provide and what you need, please contact me for a complimentary consultation.

These demos were originally part of a podcast, Live Action Coaching, available on iTunes and other sites. Since then, technology has gotten a lot easier to use and iTunes has gotten a lot more crowded. Hence, the move to place it here, alongside my blog. Seems appropriate.

What next’s? Maybe online video?  For now, enjoy these coaching demonstrations:

Career Rejuvenation and Unconscious Competence

In this demo, I coach a technical professional who has decided to leave his expertise behind and learn a new area at work. While the newness excites the client, he also is overwhelmed by what he knows he doesn’t know or “unconscious competence.”   In our coaching, we explore this idea of unconscious competence. The recording is under 20 minutes.
