Moving Too Fast

Over the weekend, I was pulled over for the second time in the last six weeks for speeding. Fortunately, I got a warning and not a ticket. (I still haven’t paid my other ticket from January.)

Looking through my notes that I make for future blog postings, I came across scribbled words, "Everything is moving too fast." Those were the words to a song I heard as I was rushing from an appointment in downtown Denver back to my home office for a coaching call.

What am I to make of all these signals?  Well, as the officer said to me today, "Slow down!"

It’s hard to slow down when you are impatient to create the future. And what I know intellectually is that when I do slow down, life can become more joyful and memorable. I’m able to notice more and take in more.

So here’s to moving into action and slowing down at the same time…..

Some days, it doesn’t hurt to slow down and do everything at a pace more leisurely than normal. It helps us focus more on what we are doing or who we are attending to. And it also helps us enjoy and understand what we are doing more. People shouldn’t always be in a hurry to do something. Savor the moment.
