Networking, Time Off, and Doing What You Love

Marci Alboher interviews Herminia Ibarra, the author of one of my favorite books on career transition, Working Identity.  The interview brings out some great points about networking and time off.

It was from Ms. Ibarra’s book that I first realized the importance of building new networks when changing careers. And her idea of moving into action, and not going for the big aha, fits right in with my approach of sending coaching clients on field trips.

While you are on Marci’s blog, check out the posting about Gery, the Whip Master.  The quirkiness of Gery’s passion is eclipsed only by his genuine interest in doing something he loves—and is good at. You really have to admire that.
