Michael Bungay Stanier, a coach I admire for his intelligence, creativity and business savvy, has written a great article, "Who’s Helping You Out?" He outlines his criteria for deciding who he spends his limited time with. And don’t we all have limited time? Here’s how Michael decides who to hang with:
- Who makes you laugh?
- Who makes you think?
- Who is great? (as in Good vs. Great)
This hit home for me. Probably because as I get older, and more in tune with my purpose and what brings me joy, I become less tolerant of spending time in places that’s not rich or fulfilling for me. Yes, life is full of places that aren’t rich and fulfilling. And if I have a choice, I’d much rather go for the juice in life.
