In Episode 12, I speak with New York Times Bestselling Author Kim Scott. Kim’s book, Radical Candor: Be a Kickass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity, reflects on her experience as a leader and executive in high tech. In her work, Kim focuses on cultivating strong workplace relationships where both employers and employees feel compelled to give and solicit honest feedback. In our conversation, we discuss strategies for soliciting feedback, creating a culture of mutual respect, and dealing with low performers in the workplace. Listen in for a conversation about humility, building relationships, and how bosses can gain the skills to be radically candid.

In addition to leading AdSense, YouTube, and Doubleclick teams at Google and being a CEO coach at Dropbox, Qualtrics, Twitter, Kim was the co-founder and CEO of Juice Software, a collaboration start-up. Earlier in her career, Kim worked as a senior policy advisor at the FCC, managed a pediatric clinic in Kosovo, and started a diamond-cutting factory in Moscow. She and her husband are parents of twins and live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The conversation with Kim is continued in a special bonus episode, Episode 13.
